Well, last post before baby boy arrives! And what a fun month it has been! We started off the holiday weekend with almost the entire Douglas gang at the lake (We missed you John, Becky, Tommy, and Arius)! Fitting 19 people into one lake house is no small task, but honestly it went really well. Each couple was was in charge of a different meal, and everyone put a lot of effort/took pride in their meal—so we ate really well! Conversation was interesting, the weather was fabulous, and the kids stayed safe, so total success. Truly a great memory.
Making homemade jam from the blackberries we picked; photo contest pic with Freedom Riders; unsafe but impressive family pic; and then lots of other random family pics from the weekend.
Then there were more summer camps. Princess camp for Taylor, baseball and ‘boys fun camp’ for Jackson. Marist received a lot of our money this summer!
Then we did a week at the lake with family. It was a special treat to have 2 of my mom’s sisters join us—Laura and Peggy.
During this week at the lake, Jackson went to Camp High Harbour, an overnight YMCA camp located on lake Burton. He was a day camper, so it was really neat to be able to pick him up via boat each afternoon.
He had a blast doing archery, rock climbing, horse back riding, tubing, singing camp/songs about God each morning, and eating the ‘amazing’ camp food.
And Taylor had fun getting LOTS of attention from 2 very loving and fun aunts!
And not to forget Grant—he caught his first fish with Granddad during this lake week. He is still talking about it!
The only missing piece of course was Scotty. He is still working in Nashville, which gives me comfort that he is relatively close if I go into labor.
His team broke away one evening to do something fun called the Escape Game. Something along the lines of being placed in a room and figuring out clues/solving the mystery within a certain amount of time.
Scotty also joined team 32 this month! His celebration was similar to mine—birthday crepes!! (aka: our normal Saturday morning routine, with candles)
Those are the highlights! We did spend a weekend at a friend’s lake house where Scott continued to perfect his back roll on the wakeboard. And Jackson is really getting the hang of it too! Cutting in and out of the wake now. It’s only a matter of time before he’s better than me!
And as you can’t tell from the picture (I chose to include this one rather than the one I’m in—because I’m huge), I’m about ready to pop. We are really getting excited to meet our new little guy. I am apprehensive about adding a 4th, but Scott has been great about encouraging me to get the help I might need (probably bc he is gone all week every week). So…I have gone to town! We have hired one college girl to come every morning from 7-9am to help with getting kids off to different schools/cleaning/laundry etc…Then another college girl to come from 3p-7p to help with homework/dinner/driving to extra cirriculars/bed time/lunch packing etc…
So many people we know from church do it by themselves, so I am feeling somewhat spoiled, but grateful nonetheless.
Well last time signing off as a family of 5!
Much love,
TFK
